MUSIC AROUND TOWN

THE MET BALCONY BAR PERFORMANCES
September 5 and 6, 2014

DECODA

Moran Katz, clarinet; Brad Balliett, bassoon; and Paul Wonjun Cho, Clarinet came together to play works by Mozart, Rossini, Schickele, Piazzola, and Balliett. I did not expect to enjoy a musical evening as much as I did at the MET. The choice of works was intimate and festive, the passion of the musician for their instrument was evident, and their playful interaction made their performance as intimate as it can get. Music at the MET is a small soiree with a light supper menu, reasonably priced wines and attentive service. I could not think of a better place to enjoy a classical music performance. If you want to impress your date, I would say this is the place.
Moran Katz, Brad Balliet and Paul Wonjun Cho are part of Decoda a large group of about thirty musicians that take turns doing musical performances. Moran Katz will be in the Miami area in February, and Brad Balliet is a regular visiting artist with the New World Symphony. You can find information about Decoda at www.decodamusic.org. Moran Katz and Paul Wonjun Cho are master clarinetist, both passionate and charming.
